RATHMULLAN

A charming little sleepy village, which nestles on the shores of beautiful Lough Swilly is the perfect location to get away from it all. It's only a few minutes walk from the cottage to the fabulous 2 km. Long blue-flag beach of safe golden sand. The beach is fringed by Rathmullan Wood (A Nature Reserve, of scenic woodland and award winning beach walks). This is an ideal spot for just 'kicking back' and unwinding. You'll soon realise that life is done without much fuss and at a quieter pace here, and the pace is infectious!

It is also an ideal location for exploring the many hidden delights of unspoiled Donegal.

The village pier extends into Lough Swilly and from here you can catch the car ferry (June - Sept) to Buncrana from where you can tour the magnificent Inishowen Peninsula.

Don't miss the 'Flight of the Earls Interpretive Centre' (located in the village). It was from this very place that the last of the great Irish Chieftains (O'Donnell and O'Neil) left their native shores forever, a pivotal happening in Irish History.

GETTING THERE

From the coast road turn left at the sign for Fanad Drive and Fort Royal Hotel. Head up through the village and keep following signs for ‘Fanad Drive’. Just past the village you’ll see (on the RHS) the entrance to Rathmullan House Hotel. Turn right immediately after this, again following signs for the Fort Royal. This is Kinnear Rd., You will see the Clearwaters development about 500 yards further on, (on the LHS). Drive up into the development and turn right. The cottage is the second one on the right hand side.
